We won't go into the details of buying the first catergory of stamps, because it’s pretty straight forward! You can just visit a post office and ask to see what they have!
A word of caution - when buying forever stamps, be incredibly careful with any third party websites that sell forever stamps at a discount. In recent years, counterfeiters have been flooding the market with fake stamps. They often offer generic and common forever stamp designs (think American flag stamps), but also stamp designs that are common for weddings (designs with roses, wedding cakes, etc.) at steep discounts. Remember that postage is ultimately a form of currency and, just like money, it doesn’t lose its value. It would be weird if someone offered to sell you a $1 bill for 50 cents, right? That would sound fishy for good reason. Well, it’s the same thing with postage. Any site that is claiming to sell real forever stamps at a discount is immediately suspect.
